Anthropometry/ Body composition analysis

Body weight is not a reliable or accurate indicator of energy balance. Monitoring body weight can be misleading, and the information can be misinterpreted.

Anthropometry is a science of measurement. It adheres to particular rules of measurement as determined by national and international standards bodies.  The measurement sites give a good description of the body as a whole. If you are looking at getting your body composition analysis or would like to know your muscle mass and fat mass along with body types, Anthropometry is the way to go!

Anthropometry measurement is useful to monitor athlete’s fitness level. Monitoring skinfold- fat thicknesses across the competition season provides useful information about changes in body fat stores. If you eat nutritionally adequate meals we can see changes in fat percentage or changes in body composition within 2 weeks. It is the only technique which is 99% accurate in showing your body composition and changes in such short intervals!

Once the measurements are complete, we analyse body types, body mass and muscle mass.

Body Mass Index– BMI most of us have heard of! If you go to a dietitian or a doctor they expect you to be within your reference range. But this wonderful tool doesn’t aim for some specific population like athletes or weight making sports like body building and also for pregnant women. Swati believes in “waist loss” that is “inch loss” than “weight loss”! In her words ” if you have a smaller waist circumference, you can prevent many lifestyle related health complications”. Imagine you could be just 65kgs with a pot belly or 65 kgs with a smaller waist! An ideal Indian woman should have a waist circumference not more than 88cm and men not more than 102 cm.

With the help of anthropometry measurement techniques, Swati measures accurate height, weight, waist, skin folds and muscle mass!
