Fuel for Marathon
Every athlete is different. We work on their different requirements for energy and nutrients depending on their body size and physique, the type of event and training load. We help athletes identify key nutritional goals in terms of energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat and all of the vitamins and minerals that are essential for health and performance.
We work along with their different food choices, based in part on cultural and lifestyle issues and personal taste preferences. Once nutritional goals are identified, each athlete is given an eating strategy to ensure that suitable foods are eaten in appropriate amounts at the right time to meet those goals.
A demanding training program usually involves daily or twice daily workouts. Inadequate meals lead to fatigue and ineffective training. Some distance runners and walkers severely restrict their diet because low body fat levels assist in performance.
We work on appropriate energy requirements by adding more variety to avoid lethargy, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances and disordered eating.
During competition phase, most athletes get fatigued due to fuel- carbohydrate depletion and dehydration. We create strategies for eating before, during and after the event. As we all know competition is often undertaken in multiple stages like heats and finals recovery between these sessions are important to become the final winner!
